School Completion

Navan School Completion Programme

The Navan School Completion Programme ( NSCP ) is a Department of Children and Youth Affair initiative under the Education Welfare section of TUSLA Child & Family Agency. Our main objective is retaining young people in mainstream school. Programmes are delivered in conjunction with school programmes and external agencies

Programmes & Interventions

Ms. Sinead Kearney is the Project worker  in our school  and she is available to students referred to her on Monday and Tuesday every week. The Project worker will offer young people individual and group support to help them remain connected to school and to assist in dealing with issues that may be causing problems with attendance. Examples of programmes are Self-Esteem, Wellbeing, Social Skills, Art & Crafts, Peer Relationships, and Anti-Bullying.

Sinead also delivers class based Mindfulness.B Programme with specific class groups.

Homework Club

Homework Club runs Monday to Thursday straight after school for one hour. This programme is funded through the CCS (Community Childcare Scheme) under POBAL and DCYA. Students can be referred to Homework Club by the Class Teacher and Principal. Places are limited and will be provided to those most in need at that time.

Transition Programme

We will be running the Transition Programme with our 6th Class boys and girls after Easter. The programme is called “Mind the Gap”, offering students the opportunity to identify their feelings about transitioning to post primary school. It is a class based; 2 to 3 session programme and students will get the chance to ask questions of a student who is in post-primary school, Students love this opportunity as it provides real insights! If you have any concerns regarding transferring please contact Sinead or Christina for assistance. If you are experiencing any difficulty with transferring to post-primary school, please contact us for advice and assistance. We also have two very useful leaflets developed by students and parents on tips for moving to post primary schools. Leaflets will be provided to all 6th class students each year

Holiday Time

Holiday Time is always busy in NSCP. Sinead offers summer camp to referred young people and it usually takes place 4 days per week in July. Activities generally include art, cookery, swimming, leisure, sporting activity, dance and day trips, It is always fun and we always hope for sunny days!
