The Daily Mile

17th Feb, 2019

Five classes in our school have taken up the challenge of the Daily Mile.  This is an initiative which has been taken up by 3,600 schools worldwide.  The idea is that children leave their classrooms for 15 minutes each day and run around the playground until they have run their mile.  In St. Joseph’s a 4th class and a 5th class have buddied up with the senior infant classes.  The older children have given great encouragement to the younger children and, after four weeks of running daily, many of our children can now run the mile without stopping.  They are also working hard to improve their running technique!  Thanks to Ms. Leahy for her organisation.  This is a great way to get fitter and healthier!
