Visit of Mr. Harrison Banda

28th Apr, 2019

On Thursday, 11th April we welcomed Mr. Harrison Banda to our school.  He was accompanied by Sr. Marie Louise, Sr. Angela and Sr. Agnes.  Mr. Banda is from Mazabuka in Zambia.  He was taught by Sr. Angela in Mazabuka when he was a young boy and he is now Headmaster of St. Patrick’s Secondary School in Mazabuka.  Our school has a long association with Mazabuka.  Sr. Celestine who taught in our school still works there and we regularly fundraise to support the work of the Mercy Sisters.  Ms. Hogan, Ms. Caffrey and Ms. Doran all spent summer holidays in Mazabuka.  We welcomed Mr. Banda with singing and prayers.  The fourth class children played Irish tunes on their tin whistles and we gave Mr. Banda the gift of a tin whistle to bring home!  We also gave Mr. Banda a book on the history of our school and a set of inspirational sayings of Catherine McAuley.  It was an honour for us to welcome Mr. Banda to St. Joseph’s and we thank Sr. Marie Louise and Sr. Angela for organising the visit.
